Bill Gainer

The Least of Thoughts

Every morning
the blue blanket
holds me
a little longer
than the morning
before.
Even the clock
on the nightstand
says stay.

Someday I will –
stay forever,
disappear
into my dreams
and no one
will know
where
the blue blanket
took me,
or why it never
brought me
back…
