Manuel Paul López

Un Poco Loco

arizona governor, jan brewer,
talks in her sleep

I want to eat everything you are wearing
your field worker’s flannel
your arthritic finger
your sun-seared skin
the cadaverous earnings
that shrink in your pocket

the vast stars you dream of
when you struggle
toward another day

* The first line is borrowed from Frank Lima’s poem also entitled “Un Poco Loco.
